The Best of Cleveland - The Cleveland Mall

As I am working on my masters degree I spend a great deal of time at the Cleveland Public Library. Besides being a beautiful building (the original building), it also has an extensive collection of books. And I do love books, not going to lie. But occasionally I need to take a much needed break so in nice weather I venture into the newly completed Cleveland Mall.

I love the views of Key Tower, looking out towards the lake and stadium, and then the Fountain of Eternal Life. The fountain has always struck me. For me it represents the living, freedom, and a quest to see the world. I can spend our just day dreaming on the benches nearby.

Cleveland Public Library is on the left side.

The Cleveland Mall is one of many places that I can think and relax. Highly recommend a stroll now that the Cleveland Convention Center and new medical mart is complete!

The Best of Cleveland - The Cleveland Museum of Art

It's no secret that I love the Cleveland Museum of Art (CMA). Since I was young I have been going there quite frequently. I wish I could go every week!

One reason I go there so much because its FREE. That's right no steep admission prices, although some special exhibits do charge admission but the price is not that high. The past couple of years the museum has undergone huge transformation or face lift and the wait has been worth it.

One can spend days or even weeks at the museum because there is so much to see. Its definitely not the Louvre or Versailles but CMA is sure not too far behind from any of the great art institutions in Europe.

I could not imagine living far away from an institution like the Cleveland Museum of Art. In my opinion its probably one of the best in the country. Even looking across Wade Lagoon the building is a sight that continues to mesmerize me.

Besides having some stunning art on display but the museum itself is definitely a masterpiece.

The new atrium is a work of art. This connects the museum all together and acts as a main gathering space. This bright and airy space can now be used for special events such as weddings, gala events, and cocktail receptions.

The Cleveland Museum of Art is open Tuesday through Sunday 10AM-5PM, Wednesday&Fridays until 9PM, closed Mondays. Admission Free except some exhibitions. Visit Clevelandart.org for more information.

Cleveland Metroparks Zoo

The Cleveland Metroparks Zoo is definitely on my list for favorite places in Cleveland. I remember going there when I was young as we had membership - one of the best investments for families.

Took the camera there this past weekend. I enjoyed the visit along with the Rainforest. My parents complained that they walked too much, in my opinion it was not bad at all compared to walking in Washington DC, London, Chicago, or Paris. Plus I walk all the time in area. Anyway back to the zoo... I love elephants, ok maybe not the smell, but I think they are fascinating and beautiful creatures. Did I mention big too? Definitely want to see them in natural habitats someday.

Below - this is one giant snake!!! Its even looking at me too.

The zoo is divided into sections and one is called the Australian Adventure. Australia is on my list of places to visit. I really liked the Koala bears.

The grizzly bears got so big. I remember them when they were very little.

ROAR!

I have not been to the Rainforest in so long!
